Magic Moment – Sunset in Asturias
It’s high summer here – hot weather and busy with visitors (more than 10 people on the beach is ‘busy’ for me :)) and I’ve felt a bit lethargic towards doing any photography over the past month.
So, it was time for a change and in the early evening we headed for the coast, to a favourite spot and waited for the sunset. Well, that was the plan, until I discovered I was missing a key part of my equipment. No quick release plate! (no means of connecting the camera to the tripod). So, no long exposures then. I’m usually good at remembering things, must have been out of practice. Still, we made the best of it, scouting locations, looking at potential shots – and enjoying the views.
The sunset itself wasn’t showing well – all looked lost until the very last moment when the sun dipped below the thick cloud-line and gave us a minute or so. Without a tripod I often improvise – using Belinda’s head! She is the perfect height for resting a lens and has learnt to hold steady, we’ve only had a few mishaps with tangled hair…. I thinking of creating a special cap, with cushioning, so I can hold the camera more securely. Umm, could be a potential money maker – only requirements is a partner roughly 5ft 4ins tall!
