Up with the lark
Yesterday, I started our morning walk earlier than usual. I caught a glimpse of red sky from our lounge window and wondered if there was a nice sunrise over the Picos de Europa mountain range ? (the opposite side of our building). I hurried down and left the building to be greeted by a beautiful red sky. It was impressive, but I think I had missed the best of it.
I was determined not to miss out again, so set the alarm early and drove in the pitch black up to a favourite viewpoint. It was still dark when I arrived and there was plenty of time to get prepared (checking camera settings with a torch was a first!).
The sky changed quickly and I got a few ‘keeper’ shots. This was the last photo of the morning, taken an hour after we arrived. I can’t think of a better way to begin the day!

Beautiful! Well worth the early morning!
Worth it! Lovely.
Stunning John! I can’t believe you made it all the way up there at that time of day – what a way to start the day as you say!
Preciosa foto desde el Mirador del Fito… buena preparación y ¡muy buena suerte con la increible visibildad!.
Mirador del Fito from Loroñe (Colunga) is a favourite climb for avid cyclists. Part of La Vuelta in many editions, it definitely became part of history when Indurain abandoned La Vuelta in 1996 after its descent.
